Fast-forward about three thousand years: Of the making of many videos there is no end!!
Needless to say, we humans like to promote ourselves, our ideas, and our general weltanschauung (“world-view”). And since we obviously live in the day when self-publishing is as easy as a cell phone and the push of a button, the “making many” of Solomon’s words have taken on exponential meaning. A sea of content is readily available for consumption. But what is beneficial and healthy, and what is “junk food”?
We live in the most marketed-to generation of people ever to live. Billions are spent on advertising all in an effort to affect our thinking. Why? Because Ideas have Consequences. There is an effect to an idea: Behavior! Mostly, your behavior of spending money is targeted. But perhaps your voting choices will the prize in other forms of advertising! And while there is nothing wrong with free speech, there is a ripple-effect in the world from both good and bad ideas. Someone will behave differently because of your influence. Our thought are that we should aim high!
Since all can broadcast “stuff” so easily, at TLN we think a little discernment and wisdom is called for in what we promote and participate in. Are we further muddying the waters with our labors? Or are we bringing clarity and benefit to others as we work? These criteria are used in all new business projects we actively consider in 2012. Want our services?!? Expect questions!
